Showcase achievements with post-nominal digital credentials

In addition to using post-nominal letters to showcase qualified status, ILM learners qualified at levels 4-7 will receive a post-nominal digital credential.

This easy-to-share and verifiable way of showcasing professional accomplishments allows leaders and managers to stand out on platforms like LinkedIn, within professional networks, and with potential employers.

Validate skills, recognise achievement, empower careers

Post-nominals are a trusted tool for validating skills and recognising professional achievements. Available for our higher-level qualifications and apprenticeships, they provide an incentive for learners to continue their studies with the knowledge that this recognition strengthens their employability, boosts their professional credibility, and supports their career advancement.

As part of City and Guilds, a Royal Charter organisation, we’re committed to enhancing skills development and celebrating professional accomplishments. City & Guilds post-nominals come with lifetime recognition and are free from annual membership fees – ensuring achievements are valued and acknowledged throughout a career.

How do City & Guilds post-nominals work?

ILM post-nominals are awarded to learners who successfully complete one of our levels 4–7 qualifications or apprenticeships. These designations can be used after an individual’s name – in emails, on CVs, LinkedIn profiles, etc – to demonstrate professional achievement.

The ILM post-nominals include:

  • LCGI – (Level 4) Licentiateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute
  • AfCGI – (Level 5) Affiliateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute
  • GCGI – (Level 6) Graduateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute
  • MCGI – (Level 7) Membership of the City and Guilds of London Institute

For example, a learner who completes a level 5 qualification will be awarded the post-nominal AfCGI, signifying Affiliateship of the City & Guilds of London Institute (e.g., Julie Smith AfCGI).

These designations are a lasting symbol of expertise and dedication – respected across industries and valued throughout professional networks.

What are the benefits of City & Guilds post-nominal designations?

As a Royal Charter institute, City and Guilds is dedicated to advancing skills development and celebrating professional achievement.

ILM post-nominal designations offer a range of valuable benefits:

The City & Guilds post-nominals include:

Motivation to progress Inspires learners to continue their development journey, supporting progression to higher-level qualifications and improving learner retention.
Career-boosting credentials Equips learners with respected, transferable skills that enhance their professional credibility and open doors to new opportunities.

.

These designations are more than just letters – they’re a lasting symbol of success, expertise, and ambition.

These qualifications are ideal for those working at the highest professional levels in any role or sector and looking for an accredited qualification to provide recognition of their knowledge and skills. A wide range of occupational routes are available, allowing acknowledgement of the skills and experience gained in specific sectors.
